Redcliffe Kitefest 2013

Pelican Park will once again don a spectacle of colourful kites of all shapes and sizes’ as it is transformed into a bohemian playground for the annual Redcliffe KiteFest held Saturday 18 – Sunday 19 May 2013.


Historically, the Redcliffe KiteFest has been a unique and iconic festival which has contributed positively to the Redcliffe and Moreton Bay community for the past 17 years. The festival is a celebration of the international and Australian creativity of kites, arts and culture and entertainment with the breathtaking backdrop of Moreton Bay.

In 2013, the festival will be given a new lease of life with a number of exciting changes.
Expected to attract a crowd of over 20,000 people, visitors will revel in a weekend of roaming through hundreds of speciality arts and craft markets, gourmet food stalls, kite displays, live entertainment, aerobatic displays, kite-making workshops and amusement rides.

For the first time in KiteFest history,  visitors will enjoy an entertainment program like no other; boasting international kite flyers, four stages of entertainment, a Saturday Night Concert and a firework spectacular.

In 2013, the festival will host a Saturday Night Concert from 5pm and finishing at 10pm, with a massive fireworks display at 8pm. The concert will feature a mixture of local entertainment, tribute bands, a licenced area and will be hosted by two celebrities (to be announced in December 2012). 

The sky will come alive with colour and kites in various shapes and sizes that will leave visitors spellbound. A stella line-up of the world’s most renowned and successful kite flyers have been invited to the 2013 festival including the USA iQuad stunt team, Canada’s Ray Bethell, Japanese Kite Master Mikio Toki and some of the best flyers from New Zealand and Australia.

The festival will still have the same family-friendly focus with amusement rides, interactive activities and workshops, a fantastic line up of children entertainment and colourful roving acts and street performers for the young and young at heart. 

The Redcliffe KiteFest is the annual community festival for the Our Village Foundation. All monies raised by the festival are returned to the Foundation to provide community support through the Foundation’s grant process.
