More than half of Queenslanders eligible to vote in council plebiscites have had their say on the forced amalgamations. Results have already been finalised in Noosa, Pine Rivers and Redcliffe where locals have overwhelmingly rejected the mergers. In Redcliffe over 21,000 people voted, with 87 per cent voting against amalgamation with Pine Rivers and Caboolture.

Redcliffe hopes for railway line - According to the Courier mail, Pine Rivers Shire Council has purchased an old shopping centre site which may be used for a future Petrie-Redcliffe rail line. It is believed that the much-desired Petrie-Redcliffe rail link is definitely on the
State Governments agenda. The Government is likely to announce its strategy for the
Petrie-Redcliffe Transport link by mid next year.
